ImageTo showcase its recently released new mobile music streaming app, Nokia Music, Nokia will join with Social Media Week to host an exclusive concert by Grammy-nominated artist Janelle Monáe. On Tuesday, September 25, Janelle Monáe will take the stage at Club Nokia L.A. Live for an intimate concert experience as part of SMWLA.

Partnering with Social Media Week, which coincides with a week of socially powered activities, tickets to the show will be promoted via Promojam through social channels where interested attendees will be encouraged to contribute to a virtual playlist of their favorite songs from the Nokia Music app in order to secure their seat. Then prior to Janelle Monae’s performance, a Nokia DJ Musicologist will spin tunes from the crowd-sourced song selections, all in keeping with Social Media Week’s theme of Empowering Change through Collaboration.

The evening will encourage attendees to design their own music experience, much in the same way that Nokia Music gives users the power to discover and enjoy music based on their own personal preferences. The free mobile music streaming service is exclusive to Nokia Lumia handsets. Features include millions of songs and 150 exclusive playlists, ranging from underground Detroit house tracks to New York Philharmonic favorites and celebrity-curation from the likes of Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.

Completely advertisement-free, and requiring no registration or subscription, Nokia Music lets consumers immerse themselves in the dulcet tones of their favorite artists without being disrupted and for maximum convenience, Nokia Music playlists can also be enjoyed offline so consumers can listen to their favorite playlists anytime, anywhere.

This concert will take place Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 at Club Nokia. Consumers can register to secure one of 2,000 tickets available for the show, along with VIP experiences that include pit passes and a chance to attend sound check and meet Janelle Monáe, by visiting Follow the conversation at #NokiaMusic. Consumers who already own a Nokia Lumia 900 or Nokia Lumia 710 can download the Nokia Music app for free from Marketplace.
